Calling all classic movie fans! If you love classic film and you love to see these classics on a big screen with others, this is the group for you. Looking forward to meeting fellow classic film enthusiasts.

This is a group for people who love cinema and love talking about it... Don't be intimidated about your level of trivia knowledge as a movie geek and don't be bashful about your favorite genre choices. We'll take an eclectic approach to the aesthetics of cinema. Meetups can either be held to see a movie and discuss it afterwards, discuss movies without screening one, or attending one and discussing it at a later date in a separate Meetup...

It all started with Roman Polanski's "Chinatown" (1974) in October 2011. Since then we've really evolved (still evolving) in to a unit of Chicago film lovers who can't stop talking about all the things we love about film. Right now we have two meetups a month, one that's more structured by focusing on talking about one film, like "Chinatown", at Argo Tea, then we also have a "social" meetup where we can go wild at Wilde Bar & Resturaunt, with no structure or limit to our discussion. The Book (Was Better) Club is for cinephiles and bookworms alike. Each month, members will select a book for which a film adaptation was (or will be) made. To keep discussions productive, caps will be placed on how many may attend a given meeting, but meet-ups will be held at least twice a month. So if you don't R.S.V.P. in time for one, just join another! Events will range from discussions (over coffee, tea, wine, or my personal favorite: FOOD) to in-home movie viewings and trips to the cinema.

We will pick various popular and/or interesting movies at the Evanston Cinemark Theater to see on either Saturday or Sunday nights. If the film we pick interests you, join us. It is also possible that we go to Bravo's after the movie for a late night snack discussion about the movie.
